Two new dresses just added from what's quickly becoming one of our very favorite lines: WREN. Melissa's timeless signature Julia dress in nude (Adrianne wears it with our new MADE HER THINK Talon pieces)
And the darling Leith Yoke paisley dress.

FOREST PARTY
Jonny and Kim of Family Band just had a forest party at their cabin in upstate NY. We're so bummed we couldn't make it out, but luckily Fader was smart enough to record some of the songs.
Kim wore her Lindsey Thornburg black widow dress and studded ballet slippers. Watch the video here.

A KID WHO TELLS ON ANOTHER KID IS A DEAD KID
We recently styled a shoot for photographer Ryan Allan. The idea was inspired by Over the Edge, a super rad movie Ryan just introduced me to.

Brooke wearing the Pamela Love claw ring and arrowhead bracelet, and the Obesity and Speed collage sweatshirt.

Flannel and Subhumans shirt borrowed from American Archive.
Yep, dudes can look real cute in the Court skinny grey jeans too.
See more photos from this shoot on facebook.

SAMANTHA PLEET SS11
Samantha Pleet's Spring 2011 presentation featured incredibly cute girls wearing her latest mixture of crisp preppiness with a slight edge. Her clothing always includes a smart juxtaposition of fabrics or details that are both unexpected and functional.
Samantha is a petite gal herself, and I loved that her models weren't 6 foot tall amazonian creatures. The pretty and diverse group of girls included in the presentation genuinely reflected her aesthetic. I think my favorite piece I saw that night was the chariot dress in rust red. Photos: Dossier Journal
Samantha also produced a short film starring Victoria Legrand, vocalist for the band Beach House, which premiered the night of the presentation.
The sweet film is drenched in warm sunshine with lingering close ups and blurred silhouettes. The atmospheric quality really translates the feeling of memories and the longing for a lost summer love... Much like her clothing, the film works because it draws you into the subtle things that contribute to an overall mood. They conjure up a feeling that makes you appreciate the small details and invites you to look closer.

CINEMA 16
brooklyn curator/photographer molly surno (who took the photo used on our current mixtape cd) is having her first Cinema 16 show in LA next week!
Cinema 16 (the nyc based film society founded in 1947) was revived by molly a couple years ago. She pairs a series of short silent films with a live score by local musicians.
previously only held in new york, this is the first show in LA. This particular program will show a series of films based on the california landscape by some of the masters of the 20th century experimental cinema.. transformed by the musical collective Lucky Dragons.
sounds awesome.. we just bought our tickets.

my friend jen's boyfriend, alexander olch finished his film, THE WINDMILL MOVIE and the LA premiere is next friday the 26th. the film depicts the life of filmmaker and alex's teacher, richard rogers (who curiously looks a lot like alex). rogers was working on a documentary about himself for 20 years and could never finish it, and after his death alex made this film from the pieces. see the trailor and order tickets here.

track two
emily jane white - hole in the middle
i just discovered emily jane white. i love an ethereal voice over blues/folky songs. kind of a cross between chan marshall and maybe edie brickell. 'wild tigers i have known' is a really great song too (listen to it here), but i couldn't use it because it was written for a movie of the same name, which now i really want to see. by cam archer, and it's about two teenage boys. here are a couple stills:

looks like it could be nice and jacked, just the way we like em.

"you and i both know animation is the most important thing in the world"
monster road. a great documentary about bruce bickford, the claymation animator. i can't believe we've never heard anything about this one before!

here's a little excerpt. that's his father in the beginning. no wonder bruce is part crazy/part genius.
the soundtrack seemed whatevs at first, but now i love it - kinda reminds me of j mascis : gas, food and lodging.

osbourne cox and linda litzke
going to the movies is one of my very favorite things to. i wish i could go every sunday, but unlike the barties who probably saw soul plane in the theaters, we won't go see just anything. a coen brothers film is always a great reason to go.
francis mcdormand and john malkovich killed it! i laughed at brad pitt on cue, and i even think i like george clooney now. plus the movie poster is beautiful. do your next sunday a favor and see this one.

what it feels like for a girl
we watched the cement garden last night. charlotte gainsbourg killed it, even at 22 years old. there's just something about the way she moves and speaks that is so beautiful. this movie is based on the novel, and directed by charlotte's uncle. we enjoyed the movie and even jack's creepy adolescent character.
see her singing a song from her second album (the first one was put out 20 years ago), 5:55, here.
