SOMETHING ELSE...

Lady bugs pretending to be polka dots, moths pretending to be leaves and cut-outs in all the right places.
Plus as always with Something Else, done in the softest of fabrics...

PAMELA LOVE SS12

Pamela Love's Spring 2012 collection has arrived.  You can see patterns of Moroccan architecture in the Zellij wood cut out necklaces and she must have been channeling North African Berber tribes when styling her presentation.  Why haven't I worn my hair wrapped in a scarf under a hat yet?

REALLY SHAKUHACHI?

I will hold Shakuhachi accountable for me not having enough money to buy a house, buy groceries or send my children, that i do not have, to college.

                                                       Just have a LOOK.

FAMILY NAME... PARRY.

We finally had the chance to work with photographer Jason Lee Parry and his precious wife Jenny. Lucky for us, she happens to be one of our favorite Bona Drag girls.
Shooting the new Lonely Hearts bodysuit, new colors from Edith A. Miller (both coming soon), the best leather jackets in the world from The Sway and enough ManiaMania to sink a ship, Jenny did the raddest job styling the shoot herself and looking plain beautiful.

KALEN AND ASTRID = UPSTATE

Kalen Kaminski and Astrid Chastka may have began with scarves and wraps, but after constant requests the label evolved into a very versatile and unique ready to wear line.
Comparing their dye methods to baking a cake, and known for dying by hand in a bathtub, you can bet you are getting a piece that is one of a kind, made with love and will not be replicated...

portrait by Shay Harrington

read an interview with the girls here

and just so you know, Kalen's favorite of the collection is the tea length dress, Astrid's favorite is the tea length dress and the crop top, and I was the coldest I have ever been in my life when Heather took these photos.

TO BE ADORED

To Be Adored SS12 has arrived.  This is my favorite clothing collection of Spring.  A gorgeous color palette in delicate fabrics with victorian inspired details.  Every piece is so timeless and special.

OH MANIAMANIA...

Again, Melanie and Tamila have created the perfect collection...THE MODERN UTOPIAN...to sum it up...

"Like leaders of an autonomous spiritual order, MANIAMANIA have collected thought forms, visionary experiences and tripped out icons for their new collection, ‘The Modern Utopian’.
Radial lines are traced from Californian communes and cults of the late 60s and 70s so to consider a philosophical dichotomy - hedonism vs. spirituality. The door to their triangle of influences is the spirituality embedded in ‘Rock n Roll’ and western pop music’s romanticism of eastern transcendence. While grounded like a rock in the physical realm of performing and listening, it too rolls out an opportunity to transcend to higher states – a notion symbolized by The Beatles relationship with Maharishi and his address at Woodstock."

Then we also received some more pieces from THE THIRD MIND collection.

I will sum it up in one word...RAD.

KING TUTANKHAMUN

Born in 1333 BC, he took reign when he was 9 or 10 years old. He married his sister (good idea) and then died when he was 18... due to an infection in a recently infected leg, or to a blow to his head?
You would hope that science would have figured that one out by now.
Thank goodness the mask discovered from his mummified body looked how it did, so Mara Hoffman could adapt this very significant print into what she does best.

ERIN CONSIDINE = SUSTAINABILITY

Imagine having a friend, who could make you an incredible necklace, cast entirely from recycled metals, used ethically sourced fibers, which she just hand dyed in a saucepan, using the dye from a madder root...
Erin Considine would be that friend. Living and working in Brooklyn NY, with a mind to ensure almost every step of the process is finished by Erin herself, she uses recycled and manipulated metals, cottons and silks all ethically sourced and with this collection, braided using the meditative method of Kumihimo and dyed using the natural extracts of the logwood, cutch, madder root and Turmeric.

Welcome to Erin.
