EARTH ANGELS
a great article in the current elle features the amazing totem dress by LINDSEY THORNBURG. i'm not sure i'll be able to take this one off once it arrives in the shop later this month..
the article is about influential designers who are turning to nature, sunsets and skylarks for inspiration. so up our alley... it makes me want to go outside and turn my compost.

THE SPIRIT OF THE CANYON
we went for an evening picnic in the canyon for philippa's birthday.

hannah always puts her pamela love rosary to good use.
she's been wearing it lately with the Unearthen oil vial necklace and it looks amazing.. it looks kinda scary like it's supposed to be the blood of christ.

how's this for scary.

after those ghosts above our heads and the spirit of the canyon scared the crap out of us.. wine took over and we danced to linda ronstadt and the rolling stones. happy birthday phil.

CINEMA 16
brooklyn curator/photographer molly surno (who took the photo used on our current mixtape cd) is having her first Cinema 16 show in LA next week!
Cinema 16 (the nyc based film society founded in 1947) was revived by molly a couple years ago. She pairs a series of short silent films with a live score by local musicians.
previously only held in new york, this is the first show in LA. This particular program will show a series of films based on the california landscape by some of the masters of the 20th century experimental cinema.. transformed by the musical collective Lucky Dragons.
sounds awesome.. we just bought our tickets.

"i had a wonderful teacher about animal behavior - my dog rusty. he taught me that animals have personalities, minds, and feelings"
at 76 years old, she's still working like a maniac creating awareness all over the world. she's one of the most inspiring ladies ever.

SOCIETY FOR RATIONAL DRESS
the summer collection will be up on the site in just a day or two!
corinne did an amazing job with choosing colors this season. the best shades of tomato red and creamy white i've ever seen.
this is what refinery 29 has to say about the name corinne chose:
We're all for women's rights, so when we found out why Corinne Grassini chose Society For Rational Dress as the name of her line, we fell in love with the designer and her collections a little bit more. During the late 19th century, the London-based Rational Dress Society set out to abolish the use of constricting and deforming garments typical of the Victorian era, and it was their ideology that inspired Grassini and informed her line's pension for pushing the boundaries. "They fought against prescriptions in fashion," she explains, "they wanted to have freedom in what they chose to wear." Grassini has an unparalleled understanding of a woman's body, and this is reflected in shapes that are both flattering and unapologetically feminine
