i walked into the casbah about 7 years ago to see cinerama play. me and lindsey went early cause we were real thirsty back then. there was no one there, except for the opening band who was already in mid set. five girls staring stoically into space, swaying to their own sad songs. it was love at first sound and i wasn't even drunk yet. me and lindsey just looked at each other, saying without saying "holy crap, what just happened"
it was the organ.
they've broken up since then. i think we both pretty much wished we were lesbians that night.
the lead singer, katie sketch.
but the point of my story, is this AMAZING song i found a while back. it's katie singing with a band called mermaids.. i've tried to find more stuff but it looks like they just played a couple times in 2007.
if anyone knows how to get in touch with more music or katie herself, please let me know. i'd die to get this song on our next compilation cd.
i've been really into foxes lately. most likely stemming from the very attractive fantastic mr fox. a painting: snarling foxes by glenn grancio. i just discovered it and it's quickly becoming one of my favorites. my cousin from wisconsin just sent me these photos of this fox family that made a home under her shed. reason number million to not wear fur.
i'm a huge fan of this collection.. and the look book. the model (rebecca schiffman, she's a singer-songwriter, artist) is styled so perfectly in every shot.
here's the beautiful video of this collection featuring rebecca as well:
a shot from the presentation:
and samantha herself at ernest hemmingway's house wearing the boat dress:
hannah and stina getting drunk at a baby shower last weekend. han's wearing the garden pantsuit from the new samantha pleet collection that will be up on the site on monday. this pantsuit is a serious boob accentuater, and apparently goes perfectly with the pamela love rope earrings. she even looks cute with that pony tail trying to be a bun on the top of her head.
they are finally here! update: and now they are all gone. no, we won't be getting more this season.. but they ARE making more for fall. so hold your horses.
the jeffrey campbell crew named these boots after hannah bartie. why? cause they're awesome, and she's awesome. she got her first pro model shoe before her husband... suck it chad.
