we threw a 30th birthday cocktail party for hannah (the designer for with hearts in my eyes, doi) the other day. we had multiple fancy fountains and i made the largest batch of cosmopolitans that you've ever seen. the gourmet chef took care of the hors d'oeuvres and we were even adult enough to rent cocktail tables. 600 balloons and a makeshift photography studio to document the special guests.

tao lin is a writer that i like. he's also asian and my myspace friend. i just found this little excerpt, a few pages from a book of his that i liked and scanned a while ago and emailed to lydia in reply to her email about how she was bored at work. lydia saves children at work. regular ironic.


i loved this book. i'm posting this cause i figured someone else might love it too. it's called eeeee eee eeee. i didn't know about this writer at all until amazon told me i'd like him when i was purchasing a miranda july book. amazon is smart. do people know about him yet? i don't know. but it makes me remember that i need to buy some books for the bona drag online store. which will launch in two weeks, for the past year.

it's said that the dream catcher holds the destiny of the future.

for valentine's day last february i made this dream catcher for john out of parts of nature stolen from the canyon. and then in april john bought me a camera for no reason and these were the very first pictures i took. unfortunately i'm not native american and i didn't fully wiki the dream catcher vibes when i made this, and i'm just now realizing i've been seriously fucking with my own destiny ever since february.

apparently these things will catch your dreams in the web, and the morning sunlight will burn off the bad dreams and go away forever and the good ones keep hanging out in the strings and feathers, waiting for you to sleep again so they can tackle your brain with good dreams. good dreams turn into good visions, ideas, real life, futures.
ever since i made this it's been hanging in a very wrong spot, where the morning sunlight can't see it in order to take away all the bad shit. i fixed this situation immediately three days ago and hung it in the window by our bed.

since then this happened: john voluntarily mopped the floor, neighbor steve and amy gave me the biggest inspiration in life, renee came to town, i'm coming up on what's going to be the best weekend ever, falahee just gave me a $50 bill, and kimmy just told me she heard that chloe sevigny is starting her own clothing line. HOLY SHIT !!

i fucking saw patti smith last night for the first time with my very own eyeballs. i've thought long and hard about this and it's true, she's my all time longest standing girl crush ever. basically the coolest girl in the world. even when she sang some shit about power to the people at the end and was waving her arms around all gay. it made me high five a stranger standing next to me. it also confirmed the idea i've been having that maybe i want to be a hippie. i've been trying to display this feeling lately by searching for native american inspired jewelry on ebay.

sometimes bad days happen, and sometimes things suck really bad and you don't know why it's happening to you. maybe no one understands and you can't even talk about it out loud. that's when you should make an elaborate fish dinner only for yourself and drink cold white chardonnay with it. it worked for me anyways, i'm very alone and pretty stoked.
