she will wake up wealthy

the new december issue of N.E.E.T. magazine is up, and a bunch of bona drag items have been featured.

There's also an article on mooka kinney (a bona drag fav), and a great fashion spread by amatuer photographer hannah attewell.

i used to be 17

i had an interview on NO GOOD FOR ME a couple weeks back. i love that blog because they always seem to mention things that i was infatuated with when i was a teenager... sassy, evan dando, gas food and lodging... sometimes they also introduce me to new things like artist stephanie simek (her eyelash earrings have just arrived and will be added to the shop shortly)

and once they even posted this amazing recent clip of jenny lewis singing "with arms outstretched". a dream concert for any cool 17 year old girl.

that's it, i'm having kids. there's too much great stuff all over the place. (LS? are you with me?)

are you watching me? am i different or am i the same?

i'm pretty sure that lissy trullie is the best new female artist that i've listened to since chan marshall.

she's currently working on her first ep, but for now she has a bunch of great songs on myspace. i just can't hear them enough. i love it when that happens.

jovovich-hawk

once i saw milla jovovich in the wild about 6 years ago when tiff and i went to a music festival. she looked amazing - a dirty hippie with muddy feet and unwashed hair, and her face was gorgeous and perfectly painted with colorful eyeshadows all over the place.
she looked happy.

her clothing line is brilliant. she also sings, acts, gets pregnant and speaks three languages. her movies are all shit, but still. i just read that she wants to publish her diary that she's kept ever since she was a little girl. i would read the crap out of that. below are a few pieces from jovovich-hawk's spring 2008 collection.

these ladies are doing the next line for target - spring 2008!

opening ceremony

chloe sevigny's line was shown last night. pretty cool that she didn't use perfect top models to show it.

little sister, the fates are calling on you

i fucking saw patti smith last night for the first time with my very own eyeballs. i've thought long and hard about this and it's true, she's my all time longest standing girl crush ever. basically the coolest girl in the world. even when she sang some shit about power to the people at the end and was waving her arms around all gay. it made me high five a stranger standing next to me. it also confirmed the idea i've been having that maybe i want to be a hippie. i've been trying to display this feeling lately by searching for native american inspired jewelry on ebay.

and i feel like just some misplaced joan of arc

sinead has been killing it lately

we're not
spinning
like dorothy

listen here

John I love you
I'm ever so fond of you
Will you wait for me
'till I am heavenly
Oh there's much work to do
But I love you

Oh you're tender
Your names a whisper

I let tears fall like rain
Apple-sized they were
All over her

And through all of those times
When you could have died
This is what you find

There's life outside your mother's garden
There's life beyond your wildest dreams

There hasn't been any explosion
We're not spinning like Dorothy
If you look now you'll see why
Don't be afraid to cry
This time don't let yourself fly
Child
Pick up those dancing shoes
Kick off those wedding blues
These are the ways you can choose

Child your tender
Your name's a whisper

WOW

oh you

Talk about awesome things happening. Miranda July has a new book coming out this month called No One Belongs Here More Than You.

Miranda was first introduced to me by a very smart girl named Tiffany Harker when she forwarded me this website : learningtoloveyoumore.com. Then she made my favorite movie that's not by Wes Anderson called Me and You and Everyone We Know. How could you not want to marry her? She's brilliant, beautiful, funny, a filmaker, writer, performance artist, actor, musician, and the girlfriend of mike mills, maybe. Go to this website and then tell me that you don't feel like reading this book. www.noonebelongsheremorethanyou.com
