NEW YORK

A few pics from our trip. Tiffany, Hannah, and the amazing sequin pants.
We stopped at the Miranda July exhibit in the park and did some posing. We met Jen and Brie for drinks before the Pamela Love party. They were both wearing the best hats.
Tiff wearing the new All For The Mountain necklace we just got in... it's a current BD fave.and then skip to after the party... hannah just about dead from laughter.
I met a friend that I need to start having a crush on. Devendra DJd at the party and Tiffany's drinks made her think there were rainbows and dancing unicorns coming out of the speakers. She also thought Kim Krans was from Iceland, so she decided to not say any words but rather communicate through exotic dances. It seemed to work and they really got to know each other well.

SAMANTHA PLEET SS11

Samantha Pleet's Spring 2011 presentation featured incredibly cute girls wearing her latest mixture of crisp preppiness with a slight edge. Her clothing always includes a smart juxtaposition of fabrics or details that are both unexpected and functional.
Samantha is a petite gal herself, and I loved that her models weren't 6 foot tall amazonian creatures. The pretty and diverse group of girls included in the presentation genuinely reflected her aesthetic. I think my favorite piece I saw that night was the chariot dress in rust red. Photos: Dossier Journal
Samantha also produced a short film starring Victoria Legrand, vocalist for the band Beach House, which premiered the night of the presentation.
The sweet film is drenched in warm sunshine with lingering close ups and blurred silhouettes. The atmospheric quality really translates the feeling of memories and the longing for a lost summer love... Much like her clothing, the film works because it draws you into the subtle things that contribute to an overall mood. They conjure up a feeling that makes you appreciate the small details and invites you to look closer.

LINDSEY THORNBURG

During fashion week, the Bona Drag team finally got to meet Lindsey Thornburg. She was immediately friendly, warm and lovely. Quirky and funny, too. She hugged Heather and exclaimed "Oh my god, you smell like a Bob Dylan song!" Wow. Much like her designs; you just wish you'd thought of it first.
Lindsey Thornburg's latest collection is mind-blowing and amazing. Everything is pretty much guaranteed to make you want to live as one with nature or become a mystic. Maybe a full time soothsayer. Her designs are always interesting and dramatic. I even dreamt about the gorgeous silk totem dress!
Erin Wasson was smart enough to wear the maxi version of the totem dress during fashion week. Below is a secret sneak preview of Spring.
So I just hope you're all ready for the autumnal equinox. To celebrate I'll be wearing a Thornburg cape. Experimenting with some druid alchemy. Ya know, just mixing some scents...trying to smell like my favorite song.

NEW SHIPMENT OF UNEARTHEN CRYSTALS

We visited Gia at her studio in LA a few weeks ago and hand picked our crystals and bullet casings. We just received the finished necklaces and every piece is exceptionally amazing! We chose a few new crystal types, including a smoky lavender colored lithium quartz which is a rare stone found only in the remote location of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Use the guide below to order specific necklaces here: small gold, medium oxidized silver and medium sterling silver. If you want to see additional close up photos of any necklaces, just email us at heather@bonadrag.com.

BODKIN SWEATER

Bodkin may have made the most perfect sweater ever.
I don't care if it's still warm outside, it makes me so excited for cold weather to hurry up and get here. Bodkin took the best elements of an oversized sweater and added details that are interesting without being overly designed and distracting. I would like to think they had these things pinned up on their inspiration board:
I also really love that they posted an ode to Louise Bourgeois (1911-2010) on their blog. She's one of my favorite artists of all time because she made the most amazingly creepy artworks appear uniquely feminine. Bodkin's philosophy seems to follow suit with their subtly unexpected details and thoughtful approach to women's clothing.

TIFFANY HARKER

Introducing Tiffany Harker, the newest blogger at Bona Drag. Tiffany has been a part of the Bona Drag team from the beginning, and she's the best story teller you'll ever meet. She lives in San Francisco, is a gallery associate at Crown Point Press, and helps Bona Drag with editorial projects while eating bagels in the evenings. She has impeccable taste in pretty much everything you should care about: art, music, fashion, films, books, eating, dying, laughing, crying. Plus, her grandmother was a coca cola model.
